With summer slowly transitioning into fall, I assume most people are looking to upgrade their wardrobe to include more boots and cozy sweaters. Also, since the Her Campus College Fashion Week shows are rapidly approaching, I decided to compare college fashion from the past and the present, and I found that while things have changed quite a bit, a few elements have remained the same.
Early collegiate style included lots of preppy elements, from button ups and flannels, to loafers and blazers for the guys. The button up sweater and plaid skirt look was a popular combination, and it was the perfect transition look for this time of the year.
One of the things I love about college is how everyone has their own individual style. The preppy look is still popular, although I see lots of kids mix it with their own personal look- sporty, glam, boho, you name it. Most girls go for a comfy-but-still-put-together look for class, which often includes cute leggings, a staple top, sneakers, and a hat with their favorite sports team or brand on it.
If you're in college and you adore fashion like me, you should definitely look into the Her Campus College Fashion Week! It is being held in Boston and New York, and it is a great way to network with other college girls while finding out more about the upcoming season's trends.
